i saw my body from a distance
a shape that fell into the water
the cold burned my skin
melting into the ocean

we pressed ourselves
into shapes
that never belonged

our edges bled
into the void
where we thought we’d fit

now we drift
as fragments

seeking a solution
to a puzzle
that isn’t there

we are fragile strings
threads, intertwined
weaving in and out
a dull needle guides us

in this temporal space
this negative zone
floating inwards, and upwards
no control, no tether to the earth
absent minded and absent altogether
this sleeplessness is an aching pain
a cycle that feeds and consumes itself
like that snake eating it’s own tail, infinitely

don’t feel sorry for it, it did it to itself

you rise through distant mountains
shifting through states of being
the oceans drowning cities
our worlds collapse around us
debris and dust coating the earth
the blood soaked moon paints the night
taste of iron on your lips
the crack of the cement below your feet
you stumble and fall endlessly
darkness surrounds you like heavy air

i’m in love with a ghost
a thin, transparent thought
a growing knot in my throat
the whisper of a breathe
long and dragged out
compose myself in the mirror
walk cautiously through the mist
the veil, cold like ice

i want nothing but to hold you
and make that moment infinite

melt into the ocean with me
and burst into the stars

our light reaching unimaginable worlds
in every version of us
in all realities

his eyes catch the light
swelling under the surface
an allergic reaction

the weight
pressing against his ribs
lungs heavy with silence
words tangled in the dark

she reaches out
grabs his wrist
a touch electric
cracking at the edges

in the air
the metallic taste of forgotten worlds

he whispers into the void
you gotta break me in

if only someone could see
the fractured boy
behind the swelling eyes

a heart
trying to make sense
to feel all over again

i held onto that memory
like holding a ray of light
the particles floating
like fairies in a dream
distant and out of focus

my breathe scatters them
like disturbing fish
in a river

let’s swallow broken glass
shards of all the mirrors from the house
kick down all the doors
pouring gasoline as we run
through the halls
and through our minds

i oscillate between two states of being
and in every layer in-between
existing in both places
never fully here or there
just vibrating between worlds

she held you like light
streams of energy
spilling out her fingers

that stone
a pebble in my chest
black, obsidian
unimaginably heavy
smooth and polished
over decades
glossy and perfectly round

don't you think it's strange
the way we gravitate
floating sparks ignite
the fuel we soak our clothes in

we lay motionless, restless
salty tears in our eyes, in our mouths
flowers grow from the holes
in our chests
