Privacy policy

Last updated October 24, 2026 · Sightline 1.0

Your scripts stay on your devices unless you choose to share, export, back them up, or connect an approved remote. Sightline has no app account, advertising, tracking SDK, third-party analytics, or developer-operated script server.

Sightline is developed by Kevin Chaves. This policy covers the iPad and Mac teleprompter, iPhone/iPad companion controller, and Apple Watch companion.

Local scripts and settings

Sightline stores scripts, formatting, folders, cues, runs of show, reading positions, presets, and preferences in app storage on your device. Importing a document lets the app read and store the selected content. Your operating system or chosen file provider may separately sync or back up files under your own settings.

Private iCloud library sync is not enabled in this release. Sightline does not upload your script library to the developer.

Nearby remote connections

When you connect a controller, Sightline uses Apple’s Multipeer Connectivity framework with encryption required. Pairing involves a code and host approval. Connected devices exchange device names, pairing/session information, commands, connection-health messages, and playback state.

The approved controller receives the selected script’s title, text, cues, and presentation settings to display a live preview and provide script tools. Quick Edit sends your edits back to the host. Only connect devices and people you trust. These transfers are between the approved devices, not a developer-hosted server.

Apple Watch

The Watch uses Apple’s Watch Connectivity framework to relay controls through the paired iPhone and its approved host connection. It receives the script title, playback status, pace, progress, connection availability, and command confirmations. The Watch relay does not send the full script text to the Watch.

Voice Follow and microphone access

If you enable Voice Follow, Sightline processes microphone audio with Apple’s on-device SpeechAnalyzer and SpeechTranscriber APIs to match speech to your script. Required language assets may be downloaded from Apple. Recognition runs on your device; Sightline does not send your microphone audio or transcript to the developer or a remote transcription service.

Microphone input is also used when you choose to record with sound. You can revoke microphone permission in your device’s settings.

Camera recordings and Photos

If you start a recording, Sightline uses the permitted camera and microphone and creates a local movie file. Saving to Photos or using the share controls sends a copy to the destination you choose. Photos, iCloud Photos, file providers, and other recipients manage their own copies under their own settings and privacy practices. Sightline does not upload recordings to the developer.

External output, exports, and backups

A connected display can show your script, and exported documents or backup files contain the content you choose to include. These outputs are not private from someone who can see the display or access the destination. Sightline does not control other apps, recipients, or backup providers.

Purchases

Apple handles Full Access purchases and restores through the App Store and StoreKit. Sightline checks verified transaction information on the device to determine access. The developer does not receive your card number or other payment credentials through the app. Apple’s processing is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.

Diagnostics

Sightline does not include an analytics or crash-reporting SDK. It writes limited connection and operational diagnostics to Apple’s on-device logging system. Script text and microphone transcripts are not included in the Watch confirmation logs. Apple may provide developer diagnostics according to your device’s analytics-sharing settings.

Retention and your choices

You can remove scripts and other local content using the app’s library controls. Archiving a script keeps it; it is not deletion. Removing the app and its local data does not remove exported files, saved recordings, backups, or copies on other devices. Disconnect a remote to end that session, and manage camera, microphone, Photos, and local-network permissions in system settings.

Support messages

If you email the developer, your email address and the information you provide are used to respond and troubleshoot. Email providers process those messages. Please avoid sending private scripts, recordings, or sensitive personal information. You can request deletion of information you sent directly to the developer at the contact address below.

This website

The providers hosting this website process ordinary request information, such as IP addresses and requested URLs, to deliver and protect the site. If you use the website’s contact form, your name, email address, and message are saved in the website’s private inbox, and an email notification may be sent to the developer. These records are separate from your Sightline scripts. You can request deletion using the contact below.
